Five Spice Cranberry Bread with Sour Cream Honey Glaze

Cranberry Spice Bread
Servings: 8
A warm spicy cranberry bread to grace any festive table. Serve this all winter long with a hot cup of tea, preferably in front of a roaring fire.


Wet Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup of organic sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of orange extract
  • 1 cup of coconut palm sugar

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of five spice powder
  • 1 1/2 cups of fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts, chopped


  • 3 tablespoons of organic sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon of honey


  1. Preheat oven to 350° and line an 8 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ loaf pan with parchment paper
  2. In a medium bowl mash ripe bananas with a fork until creamy. Add all additional wet ingredients to bowl and beat with a mixer on medium speed until well combined
  3. In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients and whisk to combine
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir together with a wooden spoon. Add cranberries and walnuts, stir to combine
  5. Scoop batter into prepared loaf pan
  6. Bake for 45-55 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
  7. Allow to cool completely
  8. Whisk together ingredients for glaze and spread evenly over loaf. **Glaze the loaf when you are ready to serve, it will keep better without the glaze, alternatively you can drizzle glaze on individual pieces
